Elderly man charged in stabbing death of 69-year-old friend

Chicago Police have charged Roosevelt Shaffer, 72-years-old of 900 block of West 63rd Street, with one count of first degree murder.

Raymond Robinson, who had been stabbed in the right side of his chest, was pronounced dead at around 11 a.m. at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County after police were called about an hour earlier to the Bethel Terrace senior apartment complex, at 900 West 63rd Parkway, according to police.

Family members of a 69-year-old man who was killed in the Englewood neighborhood Friday, were struggling to get answers about how he died.  Police say the stabbing happened because of a verbal dispute the two men had possibly over a jacket and took place at the senior apartment complex, where Shaffer lived.

Back when I was young we took pride in the loving example our older generation set for us.We still have many setting wonderful examples.Age doesn't mean a person can't get caught up in the badness we see around us.We all need to replace selfishness and anger with real love for each other. It wasn't about the jacket.Let's all learn from this and work to show more love to each other everday.
