The sexual harassment lawsuit against Treasurer, and Republican candidate for Illinois Governor, Dan Rutherford is drawing attention to his practice of sharing hotel rooms with his assistant.
Former employee Edmund Michalowski is suing Rutherford for inappropriate touching and coming on to him several times over the past few years.
One of the alleged incidents happened while Rutherford was staying with the accuser in a hotel room.
Rutherford denies the accusations, but he admits that he frequently shares a room with his assistant when they’re on the road.
Rutherford says it’s a way for his campaign to save money and other businesses do the same thing.
“There’s nothing wrong with being friends with employees,” Rutherford told the Chicago Tribune. “I consider myself friends with many in the office.”
