Skilling: 3-7 inches of snow possible Tuesday into Wednesday

The Chicago National Weather Service Forecast Office has issued a Winter Storm watch for potentially heavy snow across the Chicago area beginning later Tuesday afternoon, continuing overnight and ending Wednesday before noon.

A total of 5 to 9 inches of snow could occur along and south of Interstate-80 with 2 to 6 inches to the north. The evening commute could be impacted Tuesday evening with the start of the snowfall and the morning commute Wednesday morning could be complicated by remnant snow, as well as some blowing and drifting.

Low pressure moving out of the southern plains northeast up and just south of the Ohio River Valley is expected to spread snow as far north as our area Tuesday into Wednesday.
