Girl, 14, pleads not guilty in murder of sister in Mundelein
The 14-year-old girl accused in her sister’s murder pleaded not guilty in a juvenile courtroom in Lake County today.
According to police, the older girl said she set her alarm so she’d be awake before her 11-year-old sister.
She waited for her mother to leave, and then stabbed her at least 40 times – each time citing an example of why she thought her sister was ungrateful.
Authorities are deciding whether to charge the girl as an adult.
The teen’s attorney has received permission from the court to order a psychiatric evaluation to determine the teen’s state of mind at the time of the killing.
