Woman charged after pit bull dies outside in freezing temps

A woman from Calumet Park is facing misdemeanor charges after her pit bull died from being left out in the cold.

Authorities received a tip earlier this month that Tracy Cherry, 46, kept her dog in an outdoor dog house in the 1400 block of west 123rd Street.

Sheriff’s police learned that the dog had been let out on the afternoon of Jan. 5 and had remained outside for about 12 hours. Police also learned that Cherry had found the dog’s body on Jan. 6. The low temperature in Calumet Park on Jan. 5 was minus 1 and the low on Jan. 6 was minus 15 degrees, officials said.

An autopsy revealed the 9-year-old pit bull died of hypothermia.

Sheriff’s police arrested Cherry on Jan. 20. Her next court date is Feb. 3 at the Markham Courthouse.

Why idiots like this even get pets is beyond me…they treat them like a throw-away material item. Today would be a great day to put her outside in the dog house for a while!!!

People like this make me aboslutely sick. How stupid and cold hearted do you have to be to sit your fat A$$ in a warm house knowing your dog is outside freezing to death. she should be charged with a felony and made to sit in a dog house on a day like today
