State police issue traffic alert for road conditions

Illinois State Police issued a traffic alert Sunday after several counties were experiencing hazardous road conditions.  Will County, Grundy County and Kendall County are experiencing blowing and drifting snow causing hazardous road conditions and areas of zero visibility.

Major areas of concern include I-57 in Will County and I-55 south of I-80.

Additional areas of concern include IL Rt. 47, IL Rt. 17, and all secondary roadways bordered by open areas where blowing and drifting snow are normally a problem.  “Travel is not advised in these areas,” police said.

Kankakee, Iroquois and Ford County are experiencing blowing and drifting snow causing hazardous road conditions and areas of zero visibility.

Major areas of concern include I-57 north of Bourbonnais and between Ashkum and Gilman. 

Motorists are advised to refrain from unnecessary travel and all drivers should show caution while traveling today.   Call 911 or *999 to report an emergency or request assistance.
