Winter weather advisory lifted for Chicago, more snow still expected by tonight

A winter Weather Advisory has been lifted for the Chicago area Saturday morning.

It is still in effect in Northwest Indiana.

Although the snow is letting up temporarily Saturday morning to give way to some sunshine, Illinois residents shouldn’t feel too relieved.

Forecasters say Chicago could see another 2-4 inches of snowfall by Sunday. New snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are forecast with deteriorating travel conditions likely overnight Saturday.

That’s in addition to the cold system expected to sweep through the Chicago area next week, along with below-zero temperatures and more wind chills.

Although this cold system isn’t supposed to be as harsh as the one Chicago experienced three weeks ago, forecasters say it could go as low as -17 degrees on Tuesday night.
