9 children, including baby, injured in South Side crash

Nine children, including a baby, were injured in an accident Friday morning on the far South Side.

The accident happened around 10 a.m. at 103rd Street and Cottage Grove Avenue when a driver of an SUV lost control of the vehicle and hit a pole.

A 1-year-old was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious to critical condition. The other children were taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in fair to serious condition.

At least five ambulances were called to the scene.

Reports indicate the children were not restrained in the vehicle and the driver was under age.
