Old Christmas trees with edible ornaments entertain zoo animals

Before the groundskeepers at Brookfield Zoo mulch the more than 500 community and corporate balsam firs that were used to decorate the zoo during the holiday season, some of the trees are first being repurposed as enrichment for the polar bears and Amur tigers.

On Wednesday, zookeepers adorned the trees with some edible ornaments, including meat, fish, carrots, and apples.
