Dancer dies while using acrobatic ring at rehearsal
An aspiring dancer died after a freak accident at a dance studio on the Northwest Side.
It happened during a rehearsal break on Monday at DanceWorks Chicago in Albany Park.
Police say 22-year old Marco Antonio Huicochea Gonzàlez was killed after he pulled down a steel aerial acrobatic ring which landed on his head.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office says he died of blunt force trauma to the head, and ruled his death an accident.
“It is with great sadness that I share the following news,” DanceWorks artistic director Julie Nakagawa said in a statement on the group’s website. “There was a freak occurrence during a rehearsal break, and DanceWorks Chicago dancer Marco Antonio Huicochea Gonzàlez suffered a life-ending accident. His family has been notified. There is nothing further to share about this tragedy.”
