2 Chicago women killed in crash on Eisenhower
Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that left two women dead on the Eisenhower Expressway.
30-year-old Velette Rivera and 29-year-old Krystle Hernandez, both of Chicago, were killed early Sunday morning near 1st St in Maywood.
Police say the women were driving eastbound in a white van when they were rear-ended by a black SUV around 3:30 a.m.
The victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The man inside the SUV was transported to Loyola Hospital with minor injuries.
Police are investigating if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
It is also unclear if the women were wearing seat belts.
The eastbound portion of the expressway remains closed.
