Macy’s to layoff 2,500 employees
Holiday sales were up at Macy’s, but the company is downsizing. It’s planning big layoffs and will shut down five stores.
The downtown store will remain open and so will all of the stores in Illinois.
Some 2,500 workers will lose their jobs, according to the company.
The employees being let go will be from all areas, from check-out counters to the central offices.
No word on which stores will see layoffs.
The changes are designed to save the company 100-million dollars a year.
