Archdiocese to release priest sex abuse records
The Chicago Archdiocese will soon hand over its files on priests who’ve been accused of sexual abuse, and church officials who covered it up.
The revelation came in a letter to Chicago priests from Francis Cardinal George.
The records will be released next Wednesday, and made public a week later.
Father Daniel McCormack was convicted of sex abuse under Cardinal George’s watch; but the Cardinal says McCormack was vetted and appointed by his predecessor, Joseph Cardinal Bernardin.
The victims’ advocate group SNAP says it was unfair for Cardinal George to blame his predecessor.
