A woman left her 4-year-old daughter alone in the cold with the family dog.

A Safe Passage worker found the little girl, shoeless and coatless, in the snow Monday afternoon in the 900 block of E. 72nd St.

The child was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where she’s in good condition.

No word yet on charges against the mother.

Anything could have happened as to why the child was outside with the dog. Every time something like this happens, people automatically think it is neglect? Why is that? The media makes it no better…Now what if the mother did not know the 4 -year old got outside? What if the child was being mischievious and ran after the dog and got locked out of the house? What if it did not happen like the news outlet said? Afterall, the child was healthy and in good condition according to reports? SMH…

What is the probability that what you are saying is true, given the area of the city it happened in? We can pretty much expect that it was due to neglect.

Thank God she was found and taken in before it was to late. Also I hope the Family dog was taken in also and this Mother needs to have her little girl taken from her and also the dog she doesn't deserve them back. If it hadn't been for the gentleman that found her it could have been a whole different out come 😉😉

Everyone assumes this is neglect but there are several other things to consider. Children are very skillful and sneaky when they want to be and anyone who has children knows this to be true. Could this child be Autistic and wandered outside after being put to bed? I myself have an Autistic child and we had to put numerous locks on the doors and alarms on the windows because he will just wander if he could. Please consider other options before you assume abuse.
