Chicago readies for dangerous deep freeze

Chicagos latest winter punch is not letting up.  First snow and now plunging temperatures follow.

The message from Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management is to not go out unless you have to.  They brought out some of the city’s leading agencies as they prepare for several days of brutal conditions.

Emergency crews have been busy, maneuvering as best they can through city streets.  For now-main roads have been the priority to clear.  Side streets though are still a mess

It was also a tough night for Chicago firefighters battling a blaze under tonight’s extreme cold and heavy winds

What started in one home quickly spread to two others in the 5400 block of South Justine.

Residents weren’t hurt but three animals inside did not survive.
