The lake-effect snow that dumped up to a foot across Chicagoland has moved into Northwest Indiana this morning.
A lake-effect advisory is in place from 6 a.m. until midnight.
Indiana State Police reported snow-covered and slick road conditions overnight, even before the heaviest forecasted storms expected to hit the area between 2am-5am.
The state department of transportation reports hundreds of plows on the roads and crews working 24 hours a day.
But heavy squalls and windy conditions may put more snow on the roads than plows and salt can handle.
Troopers remind motorists to clean their cars off completely before taking to the roads.
