Brothers charged in shooting death of pregnant teen
Charges have been filed in the shooting death of the pregnant teen who was shot to death on Christmas.
The teen’s 16-year-old boyfriend, Anthony Lee, and his 21-year-old brother, Diante Coakley, have each been charged with 1 count of First Degree Murder in the December 25th fatal shooting.
Police said they are still looking for one more suspect in this incident but have not released his name yet.
The family of Eva released video Saturday of the baby who miraculously survived.
The video shows the little girl who was brought into the world four months early, after her pregnant mother, 17-year-old Eva Casara was shot on Christmas night.
“I love my grand baby she’s fighting, fighting so hard,” her grandmother, and the victim’s mother Estrellita Casara said.
Eva Casara’s mother says Leilani Paris, looks like just like her daughter, and is steadily improving in intensive care.
The Calumet City teen was found between homes near 152nd and Greenwood in Dolton, after being shot in the back of head.
An emotional candlelight vigil was held at the same spot Saturday where loved ones shared her memories.
Mourners released 17 pink balloons; one for every year of teen’s life
The mayor of Dolton, community activist Andrew Holmes and family members gathered to pray and to march to the nearby street where police say the shooting happened.
Lee and Coakley are expected to appear in bond court today. Following their court appearance, the State’s Attorney is expected to speak.
