Man, thought to be Gacy victim, found and reunited with family

A man who disappeared 41-year-ago, thought to be a victim of John Wayne Gacy, was found recently, living in Montana and reunited with his family.

Robert Hutton was 21-years-old when he went missing in 1972. Before his disappearance he called his mom to say he was travelling from New York City to California.  It was likely Hutton would have been in Chicago around the time Gacy was on his killing spree, where he murdered 33 boys and young men between 1972 and 1978.

Detective Moran  of the Cook County Sheriff’s office began his search and found Hutton living in Montana earlier this year.

Still months away from this meeting with his father and stepmother in Washington state, Hutton could not believe it his family thought he was dead.

The Hutton case is the fifth Gacy lead that lead to a still alive missing person.  Two others lead to missing people who died of natural causes. But there are still Seven people who remain unidentified. Sherriff Tom Dart hopes this happy ending will lead to more calls.

Anyone who believes their family member may have been a Gacy victim can call 708-865-6244.
