The holiday travel getaway kicks into full gear today… just in time for freezing rain to move into the Chicago area.
This is expected to be the busiest day of the season, with 209,000 passengers passing through O’Hare and another 66,000 at Midway.
The lines at security checkpoints were very long during this morning’s rush period.
In all, four million travelers are anticipated at Chicago’s airports in the next two weeks.
As of mid day, the weather was not having an impact on flight schedules.
The few cancellations at O’Hare were not weather related.
