Boy killed in snowmobile accident honored by hockey players
Police are investigating the father of a 7-year-old boy killed in a snowmobile accident.
Cale Osterhoff died when the snowmobile dipped into a ditch and flipped Saturday night near the family’s home in Kankakee. Cale’s dad was driving, and was injured.
Cale was a hockey fanatic, and a member of the Kankakee Coyotes hockey club.
The team will host a “skate-a-thon” on Sunday at Ice Valley Ice Arena to raise money for the family.
The Coyotes asked every team in the south suburban hockey league to momentarily stop play during this weekend’s games.
They requested the teams pause with 19 seconds left in the first period to remember Cale who proudly wore number 19.
All league players will also wear Cale’s number on their helmets.
