More snow is on the way for the evening commute, adding to the snowiest beginning of a winter here in eight years.

Just in time for Monday afternoon’s commute, about 1/2-1″ of snowfall is expected says WGN Chief Meteorologist Tom Skilling. While it’s not a lot of snow, it’s enough to create slippery travel.

So far this season, 9.3″ inches of snowfall has been logged at O’Hare Airport — 186% the normal 5″ by this date.

In 2005, 11.5″ of snow had fallen by Dec. 16.
