Mother of baby found dead in car seat charged

The mother of a baby girl found dead in a car seat in an Chicago apartment has been charged.

25-year-old Erica Hampton has been charged with one count of child endangerment.  The charge is a Class 3 felony.

The 7-month-old was found Wednesday afternoon after her 6-year-old sister knocked on a neighbor’s door asking for food.

The two girls, along with a third, were apparently left alone in their West Side apartment.

Hampton is due in bond court today.

    Only one count of child endangerment???? How about Class A Felony Neglect plus sterilization? Put her away and don't let her have any more!

    Reinforces my belief that people should have to apply for a license to have children. I would make sure the 6-year old was taken away by social services as well.
