Police are investigating the death of a baby girl who was found dead in an apartment on the West Side Wednesday afternoon. The 7-month-old, and two other children were apparently left home alone.
The two other children were removed from the home and taken to Mount Sinai hospital to be checked out. They have been deemed okay.
There is no word on the whereabouts of the parents.
The children were apparently left alone in a main floor apartment in North Lawndale block until the 6-year-old knocked on a neighbor’s door looking for something to eat.
That neighbor discovered the unresponsive baby still dressed and strapped into her car seat, neighbors say.
Officials say the death of the baby is not weather related. She was indoors in a heated, if slightly cool apartment. There is no official cause of death.
The investigation is on going.
