Big tipper behind @TipsForJesus campaign identified

A former PayPal executive is identified as the man behind the @TipsForJesus campaign across the country, including stops here in Chicago.

A server at a New York City restaurant says Jack Selby was part of a group that gave him $1,000 tip on a $111 tab.

Afterwards, he asked the waiter to pose for a picture, which later appeared on the @TipsForJesus Instagram account.

The anonymous tipping campaign began in September.

The tipper left waiters and waitresses massive tips, and stamped @TipsForJesus on the receipt.

A server at Paris Club in Chicago’s river north neighborhood got a $5,000 tip, and a waitress at the Boundary Tavern and Grille in the Wicker Park neighborhood picked up a $3,000 tip.
