An overnight explosion rocked the Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. near Hughesville, Missouri, a company official said.
There were no fatalities or injuries following the blast just before midnight Thursday, according to representative Vicki Granado.
“The fire on the pipeline has been extinguished,” she said. “There were no injuries; however, there were some families in the area evacuated as a precautionary measure. We are working with the local emergency responders to make sure the needs of any of those who were impacted are taken care of.”
Granado said the gas has been rerouted to avoid impact to customer deliveries.
An investigation is under way.
