Sneak peak of McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade

The 80th annual McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade steps-off at 8 a.m. Thursday on State Street.

Thousands will line the parade route, or you can be one of millions watching it live right here on WGN-TV or WGN America.

The parade started in 1934 by the State Street Council, just as the city was emerging from the Great Depression, in an effort to get Chicagoans back shopping on State Street and give them a reason to cheer.

Today, it is part of the very fabric of Chicago, and as Amy Rutledge, Thanksgiving wouldn’t be the same without it.

The parade will be broadcast live on WGN-TV and WGN America. You can also watch a live stream of the parade at http://wgntv.com/live

Or, you can see the parade first hand on State Street, from Congress to Randolph. The parade is from 8-11 a.m.
