100 years of Christmas tree lighting at Daley Plaza

The 100th anniversary of the Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held at Daley Plaza.

Thousands turned out Tuesday night in below freezing temperatures to watch as they city of Chicago officially opened it’s holiday season.

The 57-foot Colorado blue spruce was lit with more than 50,000 lights.

It was donated by a family from South Holland.
