SNEAK PEAK: Chef Mario Batali’s Italian mega store Eataly comes to Chicago

A celebrity chef is bringing an Italian superstore to Chicago.

Chef Mario Batali already has one location of his Eataly market in New York.

Chicago is the second U.S. location — and is 20 percent larger than the New York spot — but they started the Eataly food adventure in Turin, Ialy back in 2007.

WGN’s Amy Rutledge got a sneak peak of the Chicago location, which opens on Monday, Dec. 2 at 4 p.m.

Chef Jean Banchet passed away last night in Florida. Probably THE most influential chef in the history of Chicago Cuisine. No mention of his passing but instead we get this? Really?

I have to agree with Michael . Jean Banchet was very influential in the industry. As for Batali's coming to Chicago. I happy for the business. But Batali has to be one of the most over-rated , over -priced , over-hyped celebrity chef in the market. I think of him as the Miley Cyrus of cooking.
