Field Museum scientists discover new dinosaur
Meet Siats Meekerorum, a new top dog in the dinosaur world. Field Museum scientists discovered the new dinosaur after a trip to Central Utah in 2008.
It took Peter Makovicky and his crew two summers to excavate Siats and get him back to Chicago for the slow process of preparing the bones for study.
Scientists say he walked the Earth about 70 million years before other dominant predators like Sue, the Field Museum’s T-Rex.
Siats weighed three to four tons and was 30 feet long. He was slightly smaller than T-Rex but the biggest meat-eating predator of his time period.
