Crews worked through the night removing a historic, church steeple on the Northwest Side that was badly damaged during Sunday’s powerful winds.

The 150-foot steeple has sat on top of the Concordia Evangelical Lutheran church at Belmont and Washtenaw for 120 years.

This project forced Chicago police to close parts of Belmont Avenue and reroute traffic.

Belmont Ave. is now back open to traffic.
