Man charged with dragging cop alongside SUV

A man is charged with dragging a police officer alongside his SUV.

Police say they stopped 25-year-old Matthew Louis Jr. at 700 South Claremont, near University of Illinois at Chicago, while answering a call about shots fired.

They say they saw a gun in his back seat, but when they ordered Louis out of the car, he drove away, dragging an officer about 20 feet.

He later crashed the vehicle on western avenue.

He’s charged with aggravated battery of a police officer, and drunk driving
