Chicago area gets its first taste of winter weather
Cold air moved into the Chicago area Monday afternoon and changed rain to a wet snow.
The evening commute was messy as drivers dealt with the first snow of the season.
The Dept of Streets and Sanitation sent out 45 trucks to salt the main streets and Lake Shore Drive as well as bridges, hills and overpasses.
“The Department has been monitoring the current system and the City’s weather service anticipates rain mixed with light snow throughout the afternoon and into rush hour,” according to a statement from the Dept.
There are no delays reported at O’Hare or Midway at this time but it is always a good idea to connect with your airline ahead of time to get the latest information.
