An overnight fire gutted a church on Chicago’s Northwest side.
It happened at the Outreach Community Church of Christ in the 43oo block of W. Parker Avenue in the Kelvyn Park neighborhood just after 3am Saturday.
A Chicago Fire Department spokesman says there were no injuries and the fire was extinguished at about 5am.
The ATF will be on the scene to investigate the fire, which is routine for any church fire, but fire officials say at this point there`s no indication that the fire is suspicious.
However a neighbor, Ines Gomez, says she heard some 5 to 8 explosions about an hour before the fire trucks arrived on the scene. Gomez says she thought the sounds were windows breaking or gunshots. The fire is now under investigation.
