It’s official: Rick Renteria is the new manager for the Chicago Cubs.
Renteria agreed to a three- year deal with options for two more.
He’s never been a manager in the majors, but he’s managed eight years in the minors, and spent six years as a bench coach with the Padres.
He’s known for helping young players improve, and he’s biligual.
Renteria is 51 years old and recovering from hip surgery, so his introduction will be via teleconference.
He’s the 53rd manager in the franchise’s history.

Who is this guy? Another unknown to blame for the next two years of ineptitude. As a Monday morning quarterback the fired manager from Philadelphia would have been better but the Cubs do not want to pay a top salary for a very experienced guy.
