Boy, 6, among several hurt in shootings during violent night in Chicago
A 6-year-old boy was one of several people shot in Chicago within the past 24 hours.
The boy was shot around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on 57th Street and Mozart Avenue in the Gage Park
The boy and his 7-year-old brother were picked up from a tutoring session at a family friend’s house by their 19-year-old brother when the back window of the grey sedan they were in was shot out.
The older brother drove to 56th Street and Sacramento Avenue, where he stopped and called police.
The boy suffered three gunshot wounds to the shoulder and chest and was in critical condition, police said this evening.
The boy’s mother said he suffered a gunshot wound to the chest that went through his lung. He was improving Wednesday evening but was in terrible pain, she said.
At least six other people were shot Wednesday night, including three men who were shot to death.
