$1M slashed from Lyons police dept budget
The Village of Lyons slashed a million dollars from its police department in a budget hearing tonight.
As many as seven officers could be cut and all eight dispatchers.
Some fear union busting is underway. The mayor of the village says it’s an issue of being fiscally responsible. He says the police depart accounts for 50% of the entire budget.
Union negotiations are underway between police and village.
