After controversy, student allowed to wear Jesus costume

A teen at a Highland Park high school was pulled out of class Thursday for showing up dressed as Jesus.

To some students and staff members, it looked like a clear violation of school policy. Just to make sure Marshon Sanders meant no disrespect, they asked him to change.

But Marshon insists that he did not want to offend anyone. He says he’s extremely religious, and recently baptized, which was his inspiration for dressing up as someone he idolizes.

After a meeting between administrators and Marshon’s mother, he was allowed to change back into his costume.

The school district released a statement saying, “We initially were concerned that the costume could be offensive to religious sensibilities. Upon further review, we realized the student did not intend to be offensive. Therefore, the school communicated to the student that he could wear the costume.”

And while he was allowed to change back into the costume, Marshon decided maybe Jesus wasn’t the best idea after all. He’s just glad that he and staff understand each other.

I'm surprised that the school allowed the cross inside the school. I would like to more crosses in schools. Nice costume.

What's the problem did they think he was anti semitic. Any Town besides Highland Park this wouldn't have been a big deal. Did they think the black messiah was coming .

Ppl…………the Lord is not for this PAGAN DAY!!!! Halloween is a day of witchery, sacrifices and other evil doings. Look up the origin of HALLOWEEN. People remember commandment #2You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. Then the Lords also states about practicing falsehood. Rev. 22:14-15 Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood (Pagan customs).

Marshon, you go to school run by a bunch of Nitwits. I bet if you came dressed as a terrorist, they would not have said a word. The school administration is afraid of their own shadow.
