Rooftop owners along Sheffield Avenue across from Wrigley Field got a quick glimpse Wednesday of how a sign approved by the city will affect their views of the Friendly Confines.
The Cubs erected a mock-up of the 650-square foot script ad sign reading Wrigley Field.
It was quickly taken down a short time later.
The display was meant to show rooftop club owners how their views would be affected if the right field wall was moved back 15 feet, as planned, and the sign was added.
The rooftop owners say the sign, despite being agreed to by Mayor Emanuel and the City Council, violates their revenue sharing agreement with the team.
That agreement isn’t due to expire until the end of 2023.
