$1M set aside for festival dedicated to Great Chicago Fire

Despite Chicago’s budget crunch, City Hall is setting aside one million dollars for a festival dedicated to the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

The festival is planned for the fall of 2014.

It will include acrobatics, live music, and culminate with floats being set on fire along the Chicago River.

The 25th Ward Alderman likes the idea of the festival.

“I think it’s better than doing things at, on Michigan Avenue, the lake, because the river is closer to the neighborhoods of the city of Chicago. And also the experience that I’ve had, with these type of festivals, in terms of bringing more economic activity, business activity, to the neighborhoods that I represent, like Chinatown like Pilsen,” said Ald. Danny Solis.

Obviously no common sense was used in this decision. Somebody needs to use their head & find a better way to spend this money.

Chitcago, just like Washington D.C. Spend money you don't have. If we all practiced this pattern we'd all be in BIG trouble!

Okay have your festival, but don't come back asking for more money because you say that the city is broke.
