The city of Hammond Indiana unveiled a new statue honoring the 80s movie classic A Christmas Story, which takes place in Hammond.
The statue is the Triple Dog Dare in action. It depicts the character Flick sticking his tongue on an icy flag pole at the Indiana Welcome Center.
According to a statement from The South Shore CVA, the studio who created the work, Studio of Rotblatt-Amrany, also made the statues of Michael Jordan, Frank Thomas and Harry Carey in Chicago.
The “A Christmas Story” Comes Home exhibit will open Saturday, Nov. 9 and run through Sunday, Jan. 5. The Indiana Welcome Center is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located at 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond, Indiana 46323.
