Police: Girl, 12, beaten during abduction attempt in Orland Hills
Police in Orland Hills are looking for two men who tried to abduct a 12-year-old girl on her way home from school.
The girl got off a school bus at 3:30 p.m. Monday near 169th Street and 88th Avenue.
When she noticed a man following her, the girl used her cell phone to call 9-1-1 and told her location before the call was disconnected.
The man grabbed her and tried to get her into a red car driven by another person in a ski mask. The girl said the man hit her and struck “her head several more times against a tree,” police said.
When police arrived, the girl was lying on the ground. She was taken to the hospital for examination.
Police say she was traumatized to the point she did not recognize her parents. She only remembers is the attack, and is still unable to identify her family.
She is still at the hospital and doctors are running tests on her. Don’t have a prognosis yet on how severe damage will be.
Police ask anyone with information to call (708) 349-4434.
