Eastern Michigan football player remembered
The Eastern Michigan Unversity football team and fans held a moment of silence Saturday to remember Chicagoan Demarius Reed.
Reed was found shot to death in his off-campus apartment Friday morning.
Reed, a Chicago native, was a football star at Simeon Career Academy and would have donned jersey number two in Saturday’s Eastern Michigan game against Ohio University.
Instead, players wore a number two decal on their helmets and their family members wore number two pins in the stands.
Ypsilanti Police say a roommate discovered Reed’s body Friday morning in a hallway.
The 20-year-old was a communications major and played wide receiver for the EMU football team.
Police have ruled Reed’s death a homicide. Robbery may have been the motive.
