A small theater across from Chicago’s Cultural Center shines a big spotlight on the area’s contemporary dance scene with SpinOff 2013.

The month long program at the Storefront Theater highlights regional choreographers and dance companies, like Every House Has a Door.

The group will perform Friday, Saturday and Sunday with Chicago Band, Joan of Arc in a piece that infuses music, movement, and the written word.

SpinOff 2013 is giving emerging artists a platform for their medium and audiences a chance to absorb an often misunderstood art form.

Performances continue through the end of October, including a world premier from Kate Corby & Dancers from Wisconsin.

All performances are free to the public.
