Illinois Supreme Court votes against ‘Amazon tax’

Illinois shoppers won’t have to pay taxes on certain items they purchase through Amazon.

The Illinois Supreme Court ruled today the state’s so-called “Amazon tax” on out-of-state internet retailers is unconstitutional.

A trade group that represents online advertisers argued federal law preempted the state’s rule.

The Illinois law caused the CouponCabin website and other Internet marketers to move to Indiana and Wisconsin.
