One of the busiest airports in the world is getting a new runway.
10C-28C is the second runway to be finished since the modernization of the airport began.
It could let O’Hare handle up to 50 percent more arrivals, in good weather.
The new runway means more air traffic will be using more of the east-west runways, instead of the diagonal ones.
It also means less noise for communities north and south of the airport and more noise east and west of it.
That includes quiet neighborhoods like Norwood Park.
The new airstrip is nicknamed the cemetery runway because a graveyard was removed before construction.
Another runway is set to debut in 2015.
