Florida prisoner executed for Illinois woman’s murder
A prisoner in Florida was executed for the rape and murder of a woman from Illinois.
William Frederick Happ was given a lethal injection Tuesday night.
During his final statement, he confessed to abducting, beating, raping, and strangling Angela Crowley in 1986.
Crowley was originally from Oregon, Illinois.
Her body was dumped in a canal.
Happ was arrested three months later.
“It infuriates me. The things that he did. That will never change,” said the victim’s brother Chris Crowley. “You know that’s the one question, and I’ll never find out the answer from him, is why.”
Before his execution, Happ apologized to Crowley’s family.
He is the first prisoner in Florida to be given a new drug combination for lethal injections.
One drug was replaced after the manufacturer refused to sell it for executions.
