Trial in Bucktown bat beating of Irish woman, friend begins this week

The trial starts this week for a man accused of brutally beating and robbing an Irish exchange student and her friend in Bucktown.

Heriberto Viramontes faces 25-felony counts in the 2010 bat beating of Natasha McShane and Stacy Jurich.

The women were walking in the 1800 block of North Damen when they were attacked.

Jurich recovered, but McShane can no longer speak or walk.

Jurich is expected to testify.

McShane has been living in Ireland where she receives around-the-clock care.

Jury selection starts Tuesday.

I don't understand why he beat them like that, I'm sure they would've handed over whatever he wanted. I hope he rots in jail for this.

Whatever he gets is going to be too good for him. No justice can ever be served in this case.
