It’s been exactly 10 years since the Chicago Cubs were five outs away from getting into the World Series.

But then fan Steve Bartman reached for, and deflected, a foul ball that outfielder Moises Alou may have caught.

The Cubs fell apart that inning and lost the game.

Game Seven was at Wrigley Field, and the Cubs lost that one too.

They have not won a playoff game since.

While Bartman has stayed in hiding ever since, his spokesman continues to defend him.

Frank Murtha tells the Chicago Tribune that Haray Caray’s Restaurant cashed in, by blowing up the ball and serving it in spaghetti sauce.

“We are no more fine with it now than we were then,” Murtha said. “No one person has perpetuated the storyline more than Harry Carey Restaurant President Grant DePorter.”

“(Bartman) continues to work. Has this incident posed challenges to him? Yes. Has he more than overcome them? Yes. But he has been bigger than those who have commercially exploited the incident,” Murtha said.
