Latest radar trends indicate that scattered showers and thunderstorms are developing across the Chicago area as a warm and humid air mass works its way into the region.
So far the thunderstorms are not exhibiting severe characteristics, but they are capable of producing gusty winds to 40-50 mph mph and brief downpours. The bulk of the activity currently extends from just west of Aurora southwest to near Ottawa with another cluster of storms from near Kankakee southwest to near Gibson City in Ford County in east central Illinois.
The storms are moving east about 25 mph. However, more storms could develop across the area this evening.
