More than 150 volunteers fanned out over 225 square miles Sunday searching for clues in the disappearance of a Lake Villa man.
They searched from Wood Dale to Lake Villa on the route Nicholas Steward, 33, was taking from work to home on Friday, September 20th. That was the last day anyone has seen or heard from him.
He was driving a 2008 white Saturn Aura. Around 5:30 pm, relatives say his I-Pass transponder and cell phone registered northbound on Interstate-294 at the Touhy Toll Plaza. His cell phone died and has not been turned on since. Financial records show no activity and it’s unclear exactly where he exited the highway.
“We don’t know where he got off,” said Nick’s father, Don Steward. “That’s why the grid system today takes into account Wood Dale to Lake Villa because we really don’t know where he made it past the Touhy Avenue Plaza, which was the last time his I-pass pinged.”
Steward’s relatives and friends say they are grateful for support from the community and all of the volunteers who donned green ribbons to search and hand out fliers.
Anyone with information should call the Lake Villa Police Department at (847) 356-6106.
